1997 LEYLAND DAF 45 150 diesel blockage?

There is no fuel reaching the lift pump. I've unbolted it from the engine and it seems OK. Fuel tank is half full. I think it may be something to do with the water separator on the side of the tank, but I am unfamiliar with its operation. I have removed the plug from the bottom and some dirty water/fuel mixture came out, but I didn't drain it fully. Would the separator cause this problem??
Any advice gratefully received. Thanks!

inside of water seperator is a fine gauze filter ,you will have to remove small [10mm spanner size] screw,on top which holds bottom housing on to access it to clean it. also make sure there are no holes, chaffed pipes from tank to pump - check unions at side of bell housing for leaks/drawing air etc.

hi roger, have changed the filters normally youmay need to blow the fuel back to tank from hose at primer pump the re-prime to filter,if you leave the ignition on & crack the injector's you may be able to prime straight through to the injector, hope this help's best of luck
