Eureka whirlwind lifespeed...belt will not stay inline?

The belt will not stay on the motor shaft. After a few spins on the carpet the belt come off and gets caught on the side and tears. Not sure if there was a plastic piece that kept the belt running inline. Anyone know if there was a piece and if i can get a replacement part for it?

Okay I have managed to kludge my vaccum to work. It was out of warranty and the lady said I would have to take it to the a service center at my own cost. She said there are only two serviceable parts. I forget their names.

One of them is the metal clip that keeps the belt inline.
The other is something that looks like a Scotch Tape dispenser and keeps the belt housing separated from the brush and dirt.

I hope my fix keeps it on for good. Other than this problem this appliance has been very good to me. This may have been

The fix:

I fixed my vaccum (at least for now) by putting a many folded thickness piece of paper (carboard would have been better in retrospect...) under the metal clip.

This made the bottom of the metal clip force the belt back to the left (rubbing the bottom right side). This keeps it from falling off the motor spindle. I may have inceased the base of the clip's protrusion by about 5mm or so..

Good luck. Post your results..

I am having the same problem.. the belt has eaten up some the the plastic siding. I wonder if there is an adjustment to make the belt lean to wards the motor than the outside. Very annoying...
