Instrument panel ight?

at the bottom of the speedometer clock of my DAF lorry is a small red light that comes on, but on occasions does go out. What does this light indicate?

Thanks James, its a private horsebox so we dont use the tachograph so what you said about not having a card in is probably the answer. Cheers for replying

Either its the light that comes on when you go over 50mph (which can be set to any speed if you open the tachograph door), or the one telling you there is no tachograph card fitted and its to remind you to put one in or last is you need to put a card in the second man part, there should be a blank chart in even if its not been used.
