Ricky, is the magneto the problem?

Ricky,

My Briggs and Stratton turns over but won't start. Among other things, you suggested to check for a spark. I checked and there is no spark. The wiring from the magneto to the spark plug seems fine. What is the size of the gap supposed to be between the magneto and the flywheel? Could the cause of the problem be a bad magneto?

Thanks.

is this a lawn mower, if it is the reason you might not have any spark is your engine shut down cable might have streched. when you pull the handle back to start it releases the kill switch, but if your cable streched it wont pull back far enough, try pulling it back by hand, then check for spark.
