iv got a ford escort 1.8 td van and when i press my brakes my side lights are cumin on. how do i stop this???

you have put the wrong bulb in the back a single filament instead of a double

The side lights should only come on when headlights or parking lights are on .......have you replaced a bulb in tail lights when problem stared ....sounds like wrong bulb in system or a bad ground somewhere ..possably voltage shorted to voltage somewhere ....be sure to check fuses too.....have seen weirder suff with a fuse blown
