How do you replace the recoil spring on McCulloch Mac 338 chainsaw?
McCulloch Mac 338 Chainsaw. The pull start mechanism jammed, so I removed the pull start pulley from the outer casing. Spring unravelled and went in all directions (a scary experience!). I have got the replacement spring, contained with a strong rubber band. After the previous experience with the old spring, I am a bit concerned about fitting it.. There are 2 upright pins inside the yellow casing, I assume that the outer 'hook' on the spring goes over one of these (which one)?? And the inner 'loop' rests in the gap in the centre or the white pulley?? Do you get this all in position, and then cut the retaining rubber band to release?? Any help appreciated - Cheers
