Renault Megane CD player refuses to work?

I have a fairly old (V plate) Megane and the CD player has stopped working. All other functions on the stereo are fine. The CD player is a 6 cd multi-changer and always sounds as though it's about to work but then refuses to play/eject etc. Any ideas?
