my hotpoint aquarius FDW60 won't work, eco cycle keeps flashing?

My dishwasher is 3 1/2 years old and suddenly after the wash and dry cycle, the eco 45 light started flashing making the same sort of noise as before it fills or starts to dry. I've tried it since and whatever i programme, this eco light flashes and the machine just makes this noise but nothing else. what's the likely cause.

Just tried Simon's advice and it worked. Am very happy that I don't need to call an engineer!

i have had exactly the same problem and followed the answer above it seems somehow there was a build up of water in the base of the dishwasher when i tilted it the water ran all over the floor then tried the dishwasher again and it worked immediately.

do we know the reason for the water getting in to the base of the machine?

Having got home from work to find that this was happening to our machine. I read the comment on how to fix it. So followed the instructions and it is now working. How much would an engineer have charged to fix this fault? ........!

if that doesnt work take out the filter at the bottom on the machine check for pieces of food blocking it rince it out and put it back in the machine
i hope this works :)

Try this - it worked for me first time
The eco light normally indicates that water has leaked into the base and activated the anti flood device.

Unplug the appliance from the wall socket.

Pull the machine out and tip it back about 45 degrees. Drain the water from the base and try the machine again.
