how do I get the electrical cord out of the hole?

Kenmore vacuum canister type model 116, electrical retractible cord went all the way into its hole and I cannot pull it out.

The motor cover needs to come off to retrieve the end of the cord. If you provide a full model number, disassembly instructions can be provided.
