Murray riding lawn mower has no electrical power?

When I tried to start my lawn mower all I got was the solenoid knocking. I replaced it with a new one. After I installed the solenoid and hooked the battery back up I got nothing! no power, no lights not even knocking. The battery was old so I replaced it today. The lawn mower ran fine on Saturday. Model #38608B on plate with 2570 underneath that.

Im having the exact problem with my Murray mower.

I have got power to the left lug of the new solenoid the cable from this goes back to the battery live. but Im getting nothing going over to the rightside of the solenoid, no clicking when turning the key, but when I bridge the lugs on the solenoid the motor turns over no problem, is this new solenoid broken or have I placed the wires back in correctly

Is it possible Bob that you have reversed the thin wire connections to the solenoid - or maybe left one of these wires off?
