how much does it cost to replace spindles John Deere L130?

I am being told the spindles and bearings are bad and need to be replaced. Can someone explain what this entails so I understand it, How much are the parts and how much time does it take. Thank you

There are two "spindles" sets on your mower. One set holding the front wheels to the mower. The other set Holds the blades to the cutter housing.

The front axle spindles cost about $40 each and take less than an hour to replace them yourself.

The spindles holding the blades cost anywhere from $30 to $70 each. The $30 spindles are as good or better than original equipment. I spent about 4 hours removing a 42" deck, power washing the whole thing, replacing the spindles, sharpening the blades, reinstalling, washing the machine, greasing all the zerts, mowing my front yard as a test drive.

This probably won't help you much at all, but it depends what you mean by 'spindles'? If its what I'm thinking about, it could be the shafts that turn the cutting blades below your mower deck - they have a belt pulley on the top and the blade is fixed on underneath. These pass through bearings that are prone to wear. The way to test them is to reach below the cutter deck, (Engine off)! Grab a blade, and see if you can pull it to and fro to reveal some play....if you can then the bearings are worn and should be replaced. Don't confuse this with the normal rotation of the blade, though. Over here its possible to buy the spindles and bearings complete with the housing, although it is possible just to replace the bearings themselves which are cheap. Can I suggest you ring around for some quotes? Hope this helps!
