Clutch adjustment lawnmower Mountfield SP470?

How do I adjust to clutch or the drive belt please?

No drive at all - yes, the belt is still there!

One question: where does the tensioning spring fit, I take it that one end connects to the gearbox and the other to the mower body - I just can't work out where on either end. Thanks, Steve

Try loosening the cable guide bracket on the handle and moving the bracket down the shaft a bit, retighten the screw, start the engine and that should give you drive again.

Things to check on these if it won't self propel....when you pull the drive lever, this operates a lever on the gearbox (on the rear axle) to pull it into gear. Check that it does this. Also, if the axles turn but the mower still doesn't drive, the plastic gear teeth within the rear wheels fail too. The tension on the belt is kept there by a spring which tugs the complete rear axle, and its worth looking to see if this is keeping the belt reasonably tight.
