astra 1.6 8v 1997?

got a rubber burning smell in the engine.any ideas??? all pipes look ok.

Are you sure it's not oil. The headgasket on these can tend to leak at the front offside of the engine and oil can drip onto the exhaust. Happened to mine. A new head gasket was the cure.
