ive just bought a rover 216 coupe 94 model drove it back and now wont start do you know what could be wrong with it thanks

Check for oil in the water and vice versa. These cars are known for head gasket problems. If it has that it is probably scrap.

Have you had the battery off?
Does it have an alarm or immobiliser fitted?
When you turn the key does the starter spin the engine or is there no response?

If no response-
is the battery flat
check the battery cables and earth wires are tight
check connections at starter motor
try starting using jump leads or with a push.

If it is turning over-
are any of the dash lights flashing
is there any fuel (dont trust the gauge)
is there a spark at the spark plugs
is the cambelt broken

Advice and suggestions depend on how much you know about cars.
Cant you just get your money back?
