Al, its just possible that your mower engine could be flooded with excess fuel, so take the spark plug out and crank the engine over a few times to expel any excess petrol. If the plug is wet this indicates a flooding problem. If the plug is dry however this could indicate that fuel is not getting through - starting fluid contains ether which is normally only successful in starting diesel engines, not petrols. Try a few drops of petrol down the plug hole to see if the engine fires up.
