briggs and stratton probs?

i have left my mower for 1 year and it wont start have checked plug left it out and pulled cord but no spark do u think i need a new spark plug

Hi. It sounds like it could be the kill wire that kills the engine when you release the handle.

Try pulling that wire. (Should be black) and see if that works.
