water heater not working on Miele G595SC?

The water heater on my Miele G595SC dish washer is not working - all else seems to work, it completes the cycle but doesn't heat the water. The dish washer is 15 years old, can I repair it?

Hello, you must check the NTC sensor that control the water temperature, you can see it under the filter on the bottom of the washing tub... it looks like a little copper cilinder of about 1/2 and inch. To test it you must dismantel the front door pannel and cover, you will see there are many wires that goes into pluggings connected to the main electronic card that is under the front pannel controls buttons. There are other wires that are connected to the back of the detergent dispenser but you do not take them into consideration, the wires you need to find are about the top right area just under the control pannel. Counting from left to right you must disconnect the second connector which has 9 wires (you will recognise the first connector because it is very small and all of the wires are yellow or green and very thin if compared to the others you must pay your attention to the big connector beside it) you need a ohm meter set to measure up to 40 Kohm. Once you have the right plug disconnected put the testers probes in contact to the 2 grey wires that are clamped in the middle of the plug counting left to right are the wires number 5 and 6 ( 1-2 rince ad lamp, 3-4 salt lamp, 5-6 NTC water temperature sensor, 7-8-9 water level control ). You should measure about 30 Kohm +/- 3kohm at room temperature with no water in the dishwasher, now rub your finger on the sensor and measure again the resistance should lower as the temperature of the sensor increase, if you measure less then 20 Kohm at room temperature with no water the NTC has to be changed if you measure the right resistence and it lowers as you tuch it means that the problme is in the main electronic control as in case of any other componenet fail the machine wouldn't complete the cycle or in case of a brocken heater it wouldn't even let you select the wash cycle and would show to line -- (like this) in the time display.
Good luck
