Why is my Miele T230c Tumble Dryer tripping my RCD, any ideas?

I have a Miele Novotronic T230c Tumble Dryer with a problem. When I start a program, the drum rotates and after 6 - 8 seconds the main fuse box of my house(RCD) trips! I'm wondering if it's the heating element but the replacement elements are not cheap! so I was wondering if this could be something other...any ideas would be greatly appreciated. (the dryer doesn’t stay on long enough for me to detect any heat from elements)

Hmmm .. I've got one of these... disappointed with it since I bought Miele for the reliability! The heater bank / element causes the problem with a build up of disposites close to the heating coil. It becomes damp and eventually an earth fault occurs tripping out your RCD. These deposites can be removed but you run the risk of damaging the insulation so go carefull or buy a new heater unit. Tis a bad design where it requires larger gaps between the heating element & case.

I have exactly the same problem on my Miele - did you get manage to find out was wrong and fix it?

Ensure that all three airways are clear (door, two panels and the heat exchanger!!). 2nd turn the drum by hand and listen for water. Then probably inspect the heater bank for water residue.
