I have the same problem on the same model - difference is my camera is 4 years old, not under warranty anymore. Can I fix this problem myself?

Panasonic Service Centre charges me $45 for the book-in of the camera (payable even if the unit can't be fixed) & $65 for the (possible) repair. Seems rediculous.
