dull banging noise from a citroen c5?

hi room
i have a 2002 2.0l petrol citroen c5, and as im driving i can hear a light clicking or dull banging which seems to be coming from either the gear box or a drive shaft.
Its not the engine and the car has 52 thousand miles on the clock, can anyone help me out please???
thanks.

a good bet it will be the anti rollbar drop links you will have to disconnect them either top or bottom to see if the balljoints are worn as when fully connected they don't feel loose had 4 citroens and had to do each one including my c5

Just a guess as I had similar on ome of my older cars.
If front wheel drive could be one of the universal joints on drive shaft to wheels.
A mechanic showed be a test method it's up to you if you want to try it. find some spare rideable ground and put it in hard lock right then left to put the car in tight circle if it's the uni joints it will knock louder as this test puts the joints under pressure.
