how can i fix my washing machine?

I have an older model Fisher and Paykel smart drive9 7.5kg washing machine (about 10 years old). Has been working fine until lately. Then started stopping after starting the rinse cycle with the rinse cycle and spin lights on. It beeps at the same time. I got around this by just hitting start again and it would continue working OK. Now it stops earlier. When on the wash cycle it stops and the last 2 wash cycle green lights and the spin light are on while it beeps a beep a second. Is the thing stuffed or can it be easily fixed please? thanks

Thanks a lot. I have passed on the instructions to my husband who will look at it and hopefully sort it all out. You have been a great help!!!

Probably. Even if you select warm or hot wash on the panel, the rinse is always cold water. So when it started the rinse & tried to turn on the cold valve you would get an error message.

Thanks. Would that also have been why we had the other problem when it stopped during the rinse cycle or is that unrelated? It was stopping there as well yesterday still and beeping.

That is fault code 49 which is a cold water inlet valve fault. Check that both blue wires are connected correctly to the cold inlet valve. If ok then change the inlet valve for a new one. If fault is still there then the control module will be causing the problem, not supplying the correct voltage. More likely to be a faulty inlet valve.

Thanks. I have followed your instructions and the left hand 2 lights are off, then 2 are on, then 3 off and the last/spin light is on. Hope that helps? Thanks

Both of the fault codes you describe do not match up with your model. Do the following:
1. Power on at wall but off at panel.
2. Press & hold water level down button & power on button together. Machine will beep twice & lights change.
3. Press spin speed up button until the hold & slow spin LED are both lit.
4. Take note of which lights are on along the top row. Write them down exactly from left to right which are on & which are off.
5. Turn power off to return to normal wash mode.
Post the result back here & I will tell you what the error code is.
