Nokia 5100 turns off on its own, why?

We own an (old, I guess) Nokia 5100. Right in the middle of a conversation, the phone will turn off. The phone will turn itself off as you dial.
What is wrong with the phone? Can we repair it? Or is time to get a new phone?
THANKS a lot!

The battery pack is loose. Either from being dropped, or debree(lint) has it not seating properly. Remove the battery pack and carefully clean and inspect all mating surfaces, including the retaining clips. This worked for me.
