whats wrong with my 1998 jaguar xj8?

my tansmission has a problem when i put it into drive is takes a second to engage if i push gas to go hard it jumps into gear then pulls fine but first is slow everytime i start off i have to barely pull off is it transmission fluid or some other problem

your trans is bad need a trans guy to open it and check the drived . your in limp mode aka 5th grear. chances are on of your drums cracked.....dam zed f transmissions that happened to 2 of mine

If it is similar in Reverse then it may be low on ATF. If low will improve as it warms. If fine when cold then it is an internal fault
