BMW 318iS P reg immobiliser problem?

BMW 318iS P reg immobiliser problem. Every so often(when knocked off using the fob), the immob light goes out indicating it's deactivated, but car does not fire. I'm assuming it the immob 'cos the car does not even bump start under these conditions. Then, within the hour or the next day..and for the next few weeks, it's not problematic at all and fires first time every time. Then out of the blue, the prob re-occurs. Mystified and frustrated. Can anyone help with this please?

hi bmw tech, i bought a bmw 318is 1999 model from the auctions with small damage at the front right. anyways the car wont even try to start even with fuel and a charged battery, and the central remote doesn't work. i turn the key and a few lights come on but i cant use any power is this the immobiliser.

i am having the same problem with my 318 TDS... just decided not t fire up one day, ive spent over £100 already, testing battery and starter and then finally had it plugged into a computer for it to say its immobiliser problems. its been 4 days now and still sat at a garage not working? im dreading finding out how much it will cost to fix the problem as im told ill need to go to my BMW dealers for a quote :-(
