timing chain vauxhall astra 2.2 bertone coupe?

my timing is out on my astra, would it be possible to repair without having to strip engine.. also, as the car was stationary and only turned over on a couple of occasions, will there be much valve damage

how do I replace the timing chain in my 2.2L 12/2001 holden astra engine

Rebuiling mine at the moment, chain slipped causing dammage to.
Inlet valves, bent all 8
Timing chain tentioners, 2 broken
Only way for you to find out extent of damage is to remove cylinder head and timing chain cover.
Car was turned over from cold.
Good Luck. Difficault task.

Can you change the timing chain on the 2.2 Bertone without removing the crankshaft pulley? Mine 's an auto, so there is no way I can see of locking the engine still while undoing the bolt.

All depends on milage of your motor and what your timing of revs is like?,av had problems with my coupe and eliminated them without need of timing chain change. To answer your question though you might have to strip some parts out to get into it but use of manual will put you in direction. You say you turned the car over what seems to be problem with it?
