faulty washing machine?

I have a Hotpoint WM63P washing machine, everytime I switch it on it trips my fuse. I have taken the top off and noticed that when I switched it on a spark was seen and heard close to the brushes. Could it be my brushes or my motor?

What is an acceptable brush length?

Gary Sahota, June 2009
POWER OFF.now remove motor.fit yourself a dusk mask now blow out the motor and use a dry paint brush to remove the stubborn bits motor could be tracking to earth through the carbon dust build up, check the brush length before refitting motor as it's easier to replace them with the motor out if need be.
