I just had the same problem with my Memory Stick. When inserted was not showing up at all, so could not retrieve the data. Panick Panick Panick. Lots of important data I need everyday....
Anyway tried everything I could think off. In the end I prised the plastic cover apart and spotted one of the solder joints had come apart. I imagine this is a common fault as they get alot of pushing in and out. So got me soldering iron out and one bit of soldering later. All working... Thank god. Good luck with yours.
