No fuel going through diesel pump T4 transporter?

I fitted a diesel pump on my T4 VW transporter but it wont start and there is no fuel going through. How can I get the engine to start?

The injection pump is the lift pump too, if it gets air in it it won't pump, pull the small spill return pipe off the tee that is on one of the fuel filter connections and attach a length of 1/8" bore tube, next, attach a brake pipe clamp to the rubber tube on the tank side of the same tee to seal it. Now suck with your mouth on the tube you just attached and fuel will be drawn through the filter and through the pump, priming it, quickly re-attach the origional pipe and start her up.

Make sure the fuel pump solinoid is functioning ok(this lets the diesel flow through the pump).
Is the fuel filter located in the inner of the left hand side wing? if so lift filter up (out of location hole) helps with gravity.
Hope this helps
