no spark to spark plug?

spark isnt sparking and have replaced it on the lawn mower what else could it be

dirty points/pitted , no gap in points , capacitor failed,
clean the points , then regap them 14 thou

Me Neither. I thing it's my Magneto. I removed all the wires/body parts that contact the chasis and engine and made sure there was bare metal for a contact. Also checked all the wiring. When I removed the engine cover ( to clean the flywheel and magneto) I found the Magneto (the bit that sits at the back of the flywheel) was showing bare copper wires inside. I'm just looking for a replacement one but ain't paying £40 for one!!! Let you know if it cures it.
