11 hp Briggs model 23707,electonic ignition or points and condenser?

Have a miss in my 11 hp model 253707 engine,Briggs and stratton,does it hav electronic or points and condenser,do electronics ever give trouble

I have the same model 23707 11 hp on a Westwood Gazelle ride on mower. Mine has points and a condenser. These are under a small plate held by three screws which you can see once you have removed the flywheel. Cleaned and reset the points and away she went. Hope this helps..

Unless it's over 20 years old, it's electronic. The coil unit is self-contained, and is considerably more leliable thatn the older points type (and will retro-fit onto older engines), but they DO fail.

Usually they just die completely and produce no spark, but they can also 'hot fail' - IE they work until the engine gets hot. Usually, this happens if the engine has overheated at some time.
