snapped cam belt?

Hi the cam belt has snapped on my rover coupe 216 it's a 1995 model can i replace it or is it more likely to have damaged valve stems, guides ect.

Hi Colin, the old K series engines in Rovers are pretty resilient, Ive had 2 snap on me and been lucky both times,no damage!! so if you cant afford big repair bills then go for it and replace the cam belt and keep your fingers crossed!! you might be as lucky as me, good luck mate.

wat sort of speed was you when it snapped.
you could just replace belt and test.

belt isnt to hard to change and only costs 20 quid.

you neva know might b a lucky one and got away with it

Thanks nc
Had hoped to get away with just replacing cam belt but kind of knew that would be the reply.
Colin.

Hi Colin,
When the cambelt snaps there is an almost certainty that valve to piston conflict will of happened so your looking at a very large rebuild cost's, might be cheaper to get a replacement from a scrappy!!!! or make use of the Gov's trade in scheme!
