Backlight on Sony W800?

I put my brand new Sony Ericsson W800 in the washing machine. Managed to dry it out on the radiator and switch it on a week or so later - all seemed fine. The next day the backlight stopped working. The keys light up, I can see faintly that the menus etc are all working, even the camera, but the backlight is broken and I can't use the phone without it. Any ideas?

Hi
You probably fried the inverter, replace the lcd(£20-£30) if this model has the inverter attached to the lcd or try and source an inverter.the circuits within the phone will all need cleaning,as they will be corroding, try WD40 and a small stiff brush.I had the same with a nokia 6600 and repaired it.
