Radiator fan on Ford Focus runs all the time?

I have intermittent fault on the radiator fan on my 2.0 Ghia foord focus. The fan will start running as soon as the engine is running even first thing in the morning when engine is cold. It does not do it all the time.

I have checked that when the engine goes over the normal temp the fans do start up as they should.

Have you checked the engine coolant level ?, i had the same problem with my Focus Millenium Zetec, as there was no engine coolant hence the fan usage. To be honest the fans on the fords are pretty good and kept my engine cool without any coolant for a long time, however the radiator has a leak somewhere due to no coolant.
