Whirlpool Solutions washer not draining (sock involved, I think)?

I'm sure there is a sock stuck in the drain hose of my Whirlpool Solutions washing machine. The water will not drain but the pump grinds away. I have disconnected the hose from under the sink and drained the water away, ever so slowly, into a bucket. I have had the back off looking but I don't know how to find the filter piece to clear it. There is a flap that runs along the bottom front of the machine but there is no filter or anything there. Can anyone tell me how to get to the filter (pump, or wherever the sock may be) so that I could clear the blockage?

Hi there Carol, we have a whirlpool awm800, we had the same problem, I found it was the little fan on the pump had broke away from the pump, so the pump made noise, but was not pumping the water out, I had to buy a new pump for it, then go in from the back of the machine to fix it, not sure if u can go from the front, hope this helps.

Carol, the filter I suspect would be in the hose which is connected to the bottom of the drum.
Another possibilty is that the outlet is restricted through sludge build up, either in the pump or the outlet hose and sump hose.
My recommendation would be to go through the entire waste outlet system (strip down and clean) or to call a local engineer out.
