I'm currently having issues similar! I just changed my 206 rear lights to lexus lights, when my lights are off the break lights work fine, but when I turn my lights on my break lights are perminantly on (not the middle one just the side ones) I've taken the switch out and the lights go off, put the switch back in and it stays exactly the same, checked all fuses they're all fine, now I've ran out of ideas as to why my break lights are on when I turn my lights on! Any advice would be helpful, it's going in the garage Monday anyway but I don't particularly like driving my car at night when break lights are on...

definitely the brake light switch (if they stay on all the time then its just that the switch is loose - so get a new switch is the best thing).

Under the glovebox for UK RHD cars you will see a two wire white plug that plugs into the rear of the brake light switch. Unplug this first & then pull out the brake light switch - it's not screwed or anything it just pulls out.

If the switch is working your brake lights will now be on (if igniton on of course).

So if they are not on then get a new switch.
Mine was £4.11 from allparts.
Refitting is direct reversal of above.

I put this on to help others with the same prob, I used the info on this forum to discover that the switch was located under the glove compartment. I removed the switch from the mounting(little twist did it) , pressed the switch in and out with my finger(you need your ignition on to test), brakes lights came on very intermittently if at all. So I removed the switch from the connecter cable, took it in the house and sprayed into any hole on the switch I could find some electrical contact fluid(from Maplin), put it all back again - result, works great and no cost.
