Miele W723 front loader washing machine drum won't turn?

The drum in my Miele W723 front loader washing machine will not turn when washing. The machine fills with water but the drum will not activate. I turn the cycle to spin and drum will not turn. Turn cycle to drain and the water will drain out. I checked the drum belt and it is ok and is on the pulley. To put it simply the drum does not activate but the machine fills with water and drains the water. All pipes have been cleaned. Please help

Hi Chris, In the end it was only the carbon brushes that needed to be replaced. Easy job and I did it myself, so not that hard at all. Works perfectly now. Need visual on how to change carbon brushes - look on youtube. Cheers Sue

Mine has similar symptoms but different cause. The Miele service person connected the motor directly to power using a special cable and proved that the motor was fine. He cleared 20 years of gunk out of the pipes and reckoned the electronic control module would have to be replaced.

Hi Davy, Thanks for the prompt answer. I ordered the carbon brushes today from Miele Melbourne direct and they only costs $42.30 AUD with $8 postage fee. I placed the machine on its side and had a look at where the motor is and 'yep' it looks fiddly. Hopefully this will sort the problem out....fingers crossed and thanks again Davy for your reply.

Sue. It's highly likely that only the "Brushes" within the motor are worn and in need of replacement. If you are not confident tackling this fiddly repair, an engineer will sort this for you very quickly.
