I have a worm infected dongle & now the laptop isn't recognizing it at all. I have uninstalled it & reinstalled to no avail. I also cannot system restore my laptop as when I try to click on previous dates nothing happens. I have AVG free8.5 & spybot

Internet explorer 8 has issuse with spybot protection/immunisation, it slows it down making it lag taking loads of cpu.
open spybot press undo button to undo immunisaton, close spybot stop resident shild, uninstall it, reboot and ie8 will run faster. make sure you have one anti virus program and at least 2 spyware/adware scanners.
i have uninstalled spybot and ie8 is much quicker now.
I have the following installed with no problems:
avg 8.5
spyware blaster
super anti spyware
malwarebytes
ccleaner
it wont be your dongle that's the problem rather a conflict of programs.

If you have already installed antivirus on your computer and but not working properly. then try to restart in safe mode and then try to scan your hole computer. I hope in Safe mode will recover back and remove virus.

Before doing above first try to update your antivirus.
