Can I connect two PCs to one broadband connection?

I have two desktop PCs, one downstairs and one in my son's bedroom. Only the downstairs PC is connected to broadband. Can the upstairs PC be connected to the internet with the same connection.

Assuming that you do not have Virgin Cable Broadband, replacing your existing modem with one of these www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000TZ8Z8/ref=s9_simz_gw_s1_p23_t1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=1YCCHHTFY1T3J25T885J&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467198433&pf_rd_i=468294 will do it. They are easy to install, reliable and very good value for money. Note Amazons' price compared to the High Street!

You will probably have a wireless router connected to the 'phone line.

You can connect to the router either wirelessly (usual) or by a cable (unusual).

Your second machine either needs a network card and a cable or more preferably a wireless card and the device driver software to make it work.

My BT router manages up to 7 connections from different machines - all wireless - but seldom more than 4 at a time.

Use Control Panel Network Connections to set up the local network between computer and router. Right click on the wireless icon and select View Available Wireless Networks - you may see several neighbourhood routers - select and connect to your own.

Good luck...
