How to install OCR for Lexmark x4270 without a CD?

I have a Lexmark all in one x4270 and I'm trying to use the scanner. The program keeps telling me I need the OCR program but I do not have my CD. Where can I download this from?

Scanning and OCR are two different things. Scanning just records a document to the hard disk of your PC. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a way of converting that scanned image into a text file that can be read and edited by, for instance a word processing program like MS Word. So you need to decide what you are trying to achieve: An image e.g. .jpg file or a text file.

In any case, you ought to be able to download the scanning software from www.lexmark.com.

OCR software is in addition the scanning software. You may or may not be able to get that from Lexmark and therefore have to use some other program. I am sure that there are Freeware OCR programs on the web.
