first remove air filter to see if any water is in the housing or if filter is soaking wet. if it is then could be bad news, as engine could have sucked up water and bent a con rod(s), and broken your engine as water doesnt compress. then need to check bores dont have water in them by removing glow plugs and spinning engine over.if lots of water comes out expect the worst. a compression test would show an internal problem after this.
