What causes ice to form in the freezer of a Kenmore Refridgerator?

I have a Kenmore Ref. Model 105.72852101, Type 18TFA, Mfg. date 05-02. Ice forms in the freezer, makes the ice cubes stick together (autimatic ice maker) and there is ice on the food cartons. There is no ice on the sides or back of the freezer. I would like to find out why the freezer has ice in it.

Aloha, I have had a sears Amana refrigerator that froze the cubes together... the fault was that the sensor that tells the ejection mechanism that the cubes are frozen gets "extra cold" from the surroundings when I set the freezer to "coldest" . Coldest works fine for the frozen goods but the sensor "thinks" that the cubes are frozen when they still contain some unfrozen water... out they come with cold water to freeze all the rest of the cubes together... The maintenance types said "set your freezer to "Warmer" " I now just flip the wire up when I hear the water fill the tray to turn off the ejection mechanism, wait quite a while until the cubes are frozen.. flip the wire down (they eject very soon), when I hear the water quit filling, up goes the wire... Overall not too swift, but all the Sears maintenance guys (I have a maintenance contract, my first ever, but when the first year guarantee saw 3 icemakers I bought the contract) can do is replace the icemaker (several times) .. I refuse to set the freezer to warm... Sears offered to replace the refrigerator but everything else works great (490 Kwhrs per year, COLD freezer) so I just flip the wire down then back up when convenient.... The only timing requirement is to get the wire back up after the water fills and before the sensor thinks the cubes are frozen...
