How do u take the starter motor off

Brandon saphier, April 2014
my kickstart has come loose and will not kick, ive taken the shell of and dont no what 2 to from there.... help please !!!!

Mirrors are not a requirement for the uk motorcycle mot and so it does not need to have any present to pass. If you have any doubts just ask your local test station and they should confirm my response.

the reason y u do not want to get a new battery is because i got 1 and it still did'nt work. its definately ur starter motor.

it sounds like u need a new speedometer cable like me. you can get 1 for under a tenner. u will need a new bulb for ur headlights, cuz mine did the same untill i got a new bulb. for the electric starter dont get a new battery because its not that, i think u need a new starter motor

Great Steo, thankyou very much for the advise and info now i know not many people say thanks do not know why but the help that most of you provide on here is vital!! Keep up the good work and onece again THANKS!

Put a new battery into your scoot & the electric start should work, if the horn or indicators were a bit dickey then they will work also if everything is in order.
Your lights get brighter when you rev the bike because the engine is spinning faster & generating more electrical power. This is quite normal as long as they're are not getting so bright that the scoot is blowing bulbs. When you put in a new battery, the lights should work normally.
Good luck with the m.o.t.

Hi Steo, thanks for the reply :) Yes the bike starts fine with the kickstart now i went to the bike and had a detailed look and found there was no battery there i also screwed the front Panel off and the wire connecting to the light bulb on the headlight was not connected after connecting that SORTED! I'm assuming that the electric start is not working because of no battery however the lights only go bright when i pull the throttle

Hi Danielle, I'm not too sure how strict the m.o.t. is in Britain but the lights, mirrors & speedo would be a definite fail if it was a car.
You can buy replacement mirrors in any good bike shop & they just screw into the handlebars. The speedo cable is probably broken so you might have to order that in. It's a tricky enough to fix if you have no mechanical experience as the cowling around the handlebars & the front light panel have to come off in order to route the new cable.
Does the starting motor work? The reason i ask is because of the electrics. There is something drawing power away from your lights, may only be a loose connection or a bad earth but start with the battery & see if it's any good.
