Sears Riding Mower has not spark at plug wires?

I was cutting with my mower when I shut it off and completed some other work. I went back approx. 20 mins. later and the engine will turn over, gas is flowing in the carb., and I even shot some start fluid in the carb..."no startee." I checked the spark at the plug with a VOM, no luck, nothing. Sounds like a ground out or a ignition module (if it has one). What are your thoughts?

Don't check spark voltage with a multimeter - they simply can't read high enough. Take the plug out, lay it on the engine metalwork and crank it over...you should see a tiny blue spark across the plug electrodes if all is well. If no spark, you may have to consider a new ignition coil, but failure of these is quite rare.
