How do I replace the drive belt on a Zanussi TC470?

Old belt shredded yesterday & I need to replace it. How do I get the new one around the drum? Is there anything else I need to look at while fitting the new belt?

Thanks,

Joe

Make sure all electrical supply is fully isolated before any work is carried out. Firstly remove the top cover and then remove all the screws holding the rear of the machine to the case. Gently pull the drum back to just clear the front door rubber and slip the belt over the dryer. Fit belt over the top of the plastic jocky wheel and around and under the motor spindal and the around the drum. To tention the belt loosen the big screw on the motor just below the motor spindal and turn the motor body until enough tention. when complete run the machine and recheck tention. Just make sure that the belt is running in the right place on the motor spindal and more or less in the middle of the jocky wheel. Good Luck

Tony,

Thanks for your help, that did it. Regarding your problem about tension: BobG's post on this site has a link to a photo showing proper belt positioning in a TC470 at http://uk.f2.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bjgrain

Select My Documents and then tc470blt.jpg. Maybe yours is similar?

If you can't find it mail me joe_mccauleyAThotmail.com. Replace the obvious in that address.

I have similar problem. Remove top panel then screws securing back panel to white frame, ease the rear panel back until front of drum just clear of its fron panel housing. Belt can then be slipped over drum and slid towards location at rear of drum (assuming same as my TC481W). Problem I still have is that unable get tension on belt so need investigate further if problem with motor /pulley mounting. Hope this helps!
