Zip 50cc indicator problem?

The indicators on my Zip 50cc have stopped working. To start with (about 2 weeks ago) they began working intermittently, but now they don't work at all. I've taken it to a Piaggio dealer who told me that it's a 'break' in the wire, but that I'd need to leave it with them to fix it. They couldn't give me an estimate price of repair so I was a bit wary of leaving it there in case the final bill was huge. Please - does anyone know what it could be, and how I could fix it? According to the workshop I took it to, it's definitely not the connection from the indicator switch to the wire. Thanks v much!

No you can find a fault without one but you need to gain access to wires. try all earths and indicator unit if you can get to it. If I were you I would invest in a manual and go from there it will expalin how to get paels off. I had a Zip once and cant remember anything about it

Thanks BB. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a multi meter. Also I can't seem to get the front panel off - I can get the one off at the front where the speedometer is etc, but the one underneath that just doesn't want to come off. Do I definitely need a multimeter in order to find the fault? What am I looking for?
Cheers

Dave,
Dont bother with shop it will be expensive and you CAN do it. Start with each indicator and work your way back following the wires to the indicator unit. If you have a manual, brilliant it will tell you which colours. You may have to take panels off to gain access. Also check all bulbs and earths. The earth is where wire joins to frame should be tight and clean from rust. I would however start with your indicator unit. These are only replaceable but shop around even on a cheap item like this the prices can be very differant. Good luck just take you time and be patient and you will find fault. If you have a mate with a multi meter and he can use it ok then he will be able to find fault easy.Let us know how you get on by repling to the link.
