AEG competence thermometer problem ?

my oven switches off after about 40 mins at 180 degs, if its at 150 degs it lasts an hour. The problem exists even if I run it on the non fan setting. could it still be the fan thermostat is faulty.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have taken the cover off and sure enough the part you are talking about it very brown within the torpedo shaped plastic section. now my delema, there are two blue and two white wires, which goes to where when i put the new one in.
I cannot see inside the component to work out where they go.
Thanks,
Tony.

you haven't put the model details down but if you remove the top cover nearest the front control panel on the oven and look at the cut in stat that controls the cooling fan you might find it is all burnt and brown.has 4 wires coming from it and looks torpedo shaped.will be cable tied into the wiring loom assuming it is one of the models that have it fitted
