Holes where screws go are worn?

How do i put a screw in hole that has gone too big
Gill, July 2009
Put a drop of glue into the hole and break off some toothpicks into the hole to fill it.Cut off the exess with wire cutters and tap the rest down with a small hammer until it is flat to the surface.Re-open the hole with an awl or small nail, enough to re-start your screw.

Three solutions...

Bigger screw (not always possible)

Drill wood and glue in dowel (have to wait for glue to set & drill pilot hole)

Put small pieces of wood in hole - matchstick - cocktail stick pieces (quick, easy and cheap)

Good luck...
