why does my tx 5.0 rc by sportscraft shut down?

i have a tx 5.0 rc by sportscraft treadmill and it only runs for a few minutes then shows a 1 in the pulse read out and shut off, what is the problem?

the sensor speed wheel on the end of the front drive shaft is dirty or broken, or the sensor is dirty. I have fixed the wheel twice and the holes in it most be precise.
