How to get my ge washer to agitate?

My GE washer will fill with water, but it will not agitate, spin or anything like that what could be the problem

Sometimes there could be something that is jammed in the motor eg. like a hair clip which stops the motion of agitation. I found that out when i rung a service man to fix mine. Now I check before I ring. Could be helpful. Good luck
