MRS DAWN BOWES, July 2009
Hello

The same thing is happening with my Brother HK860. K carriage works fine, but needles jam in the L carriage. The needles were also jamming in the ribber attachment connecting plate. I fixed that by adding a plastic strip on top of the sponge bar to hold the needles closer to the bed. But the needles are still 1mm off the bed and are too high for L carriage. All other problems were fixed. I noticed that the needles on the ribber are flush with the bed. The sponge bar needs replacing.

As it's the same needle that it stops on, check that the needle is not damaged. Push out the sponge bar until this needle is free then remove it. Sometimes the section of needle behind the butt gets bent and does not slide smoothly in its channel. If it is damaged it will need to be replaced.

Have you checked the sponge bar? If it is worn the needles won't be held in the right position for the lace carriage to work properly.

I can only think that you are not setting the lace carriage properly on the bed rails - are you sure you are holding the square button in at the front of the carriage while you set it on the rails?
